We know that alternative medicine is popular with some survivors. However, it is important to understand that it is not an exact science, nor has it been proven to help survivors in controlled scientific studies (to our knowledge). If that were the case, it would become mainstream medicine. Be sure to follow all the directions of your oncologist and understand that negative consequences can result from alternative therapy (as well as with mainstream medicine, as far as that goes). With that said, we think one of the best advocates of the alternative approach can be found at the CancerNexus.org site. We think alternative medicine should never be dismissed, but investigated as one would with any therapy.
